How to look & feel like a gentleman

As men we tend to get lazy when it comes to grooming. You don’t have to spend hours in the bathroom with over priced products to achieve the neat look. The trick is to learn how to adapt to quick and easy steps that you are comfortable with.

Below is my top 7 grooming habits that you should know:

1 | Become a regular at your barbers

The trick is to be proactive, not reactive. Booking an appointment with a barber every three weeks keeps your hair looking neat and having a regular place you trust will make your experience a relaxed one. Ask your barber for a sleek matte finish as an oily and greasy look does not work well on camera.

2 | Update your smile

There are no excuses for ignoring advances in technology. Electric toothbrushes are designed to do most the work for you so why hassle? Not forgetting to use a mouthwash after you brush first thing in the morning. Keep a pocket breath refreshing spray on hand at all times.

3 | Learn how to manscape properly

Trimming your body hair is not only perfectly acceptable in 2020, it’s polite. Keep things neat and tidy, especially down there!  Top tip: there are plenty of electric razors on the market designed for the pubic region’s unique challenges without having to cut and bleed. Have a look at the Phillips Oneblade for the face/beard as well as the Phillips Body groomer for shaving intimate areas as well as the rest of your body. These machines are available in our store, links below:

4 | Exfoliate weekly

Use a Monday morning to scrub the weekend off your face, and every other day of the week go for a plain face wash that’s less abrasive. You’ll be looking better than you feel in no time. It basically allows you to get rid of all old dead skin and helps  make way for the new.

5 | Learn how to shave like an expert

Learning the basics of a good shave is important. Shaving yourself shows that you have great discipline and skills. Preparing your skin beforehand with a shave oil will help the razor glide over your hairs. Aftershave is important but make sure it does not damage your skin.

6 | Tackle dark circles

Look, we all made our peace with moisturising years ago with creams that aid in removing the dark circles, however this is a long term process. Dark circles and puffiness reveal your heavy weekend and make you look under-slept and older than you are. Cheat your way with a concealer, yes its make up, but you get subtle ones that make it look natural. So you can still look like a refreshed man back at work on a Monday morning.

7 | Sort out stray hairs

Big eyebrows aren’t a problem – however it cannot look like the Mc Donald’s gold arch. Ask your barber to pluck out the middle mane. Neatening up the lost hairs on your brows automatically lifts up your facial features making you look vibrant, alive and as what most women say- it makes a man look seductive!

If you find these tips helpful please share this article with your fellow gents, or if you want to ask anything that I can assist you on. Leave a comment and I will be sure to get back to you with feedback.
