Manicures for guys? take a look at what to expect on your first treatment
There is a time in every mans life where he finds himself in a salon for the first time getting a manicure, probably for his wedding day, making sure the pictures of the ring exchange looks good. He secretly enjoys it and refuses to admit it. This shouldnt be the case, you need to feel the right to walk into a salon and get your nails neatened anytime and not only on your wedding day! Lets face it gents its 2020, this year has been a bad one but that does not mean you need to let your nails experience quarantine for life.
I am going to be honest with you, I am not here to sugar coat these topics but mainly to tell you like it is. If you are a man and not looking after his nails, then you probably have no interest in yourself and have no confidence to achieve your goals. I really dont want that for you. I want you to be the best version of yourself and by doing so you can and definitely will attract a lot of opportunities in life. I speak from experience!
I am going to give you a sneak peek and preview of what a Manicure is all about. Guiding you along the way as to what to expect and how to appreciate it.
Before we get started i just want to say that the way you present yourself in the world out there, is exactly what they will see you as. First impressions last forever. If you are a business man and attending meetings with messy nails that are not clean and neat then people around you will assume that your work ethic and morals are the same, you will probably not get that deal or lose a client.
The best possible way for you to not feel emasculated when getting a manicure is to find a professional Mens Grooming Salon that does it all. Going on the internet and searching for one is the easiest way to find them. It is important for you to allocate a day and time to get your treatments done. Call them and book an appointment, by doing so you allow your therapist to give you the best relaxing and comfortable experience without having to push you in his/her slot for the day. When the day arrives i always give the salon a call asking them if all is in order and to double check if their swipe machines are working as i only do payments with my card and never ever carry cash with me. You randomly find that there are days where its not working so you have to arrange the cash in advance and not run around like an unprofessional looking for money when you done with your treatment.
Make sure you arrive on time for your appointment
Upon arriving at the salon, Greet the receptionist and tell them your name and that you are here for your appointment at the time you booked for.
They will most likely ask you to sit down and wait until they prepare the manicure station. Some salons offer you a drink while you wait, so sit back and relax.
The first thing that the therapist will do is ask you to remove all jewellery and to find out how you prefer your nails: Shortened or completely clipped off? You want your nails natural matte or buffed shiny?
The therapist will then soak your hands in warm water, rinsing them off all dirt and exfoliating it with a scrub. I personally enjoy getting my hands scrubbed down, it just feels awesome.
After both your hands are washed and dried the therapist will trim your nails to the desired length and file them down to neaten the edges.
After that they apply a cuticle oil to your nails. This will allow for your cuticles to soften up while they push and shapes them into place.
The next step is to smoothen the nails surface with a buffer and then shine it. Not many men like their nails buffed with a shine but i highly recommend it.
The therapist will then apply a moisturizing cream and give you a hand massage at the same time. This definitely puts a smile on my face 🙂
The final outcome of a Manicure, Clean and presentable nails
Make sure you remember to put on your jewellery again and not interfere with your nails for the next hour or so. Avoid washing it as you will want all the oils to absorb into the skin properly. Try doing this once a month as it will benefit the health of your nails and the skin around it.
